Announcements 1/12-08

Clan-wide announcements:

This week's featured fiction is "Star Wars, Elusive Jedi"! Read, rate, and comment please!
[12/3]

What Keba Si Rota says about this fiction: MrGBH channels the "Star Wars" universe beautifully in this story. Also, the kid in me is a "Star Wars" fanatic.

How does featured fiction work? The author of this week's featured fiction will pick next week's fiction. For a complete list of the fictions which have already been featured, click here. Authors, please send me your pick and a short "plug" for the work by Tuesday, otherwise I will not be able to get it posted in time!

:!: "Untitled vampire story", reviewed by Ameaba

Okay, I only read the first half, and I have to run, but I think I have enough comments to make posting them now worth while:

“And in case you're a bit dense, I keep saying "we" because I am a vampire.”
I got it. =_=

“But my hair is black. I guess that's right at least.”—do you need that last sentence?

And this is something for you to consider: do you want to start with such a descriptive dialogue? I think jumping more into action would be more interesting (not that her dialogue isn’t interesting, but still.) I’m not sure this is where you really want to start this story, or if you could find a different starting point...

:!: "Machines Option II", reviewed by Calamari

I like it. It's a bit short, but the length works well with this kind of story. It doesn't qualify for the story exchange yet, though, because you didn't use the snippet in its entirety. You could probably integrate it fairly easily though.

A couple of things that could be improved:

At first I thought they were sitting in front of a stopped truck, not in the back of a truck. You could probably add a few words to make that clearer, though, so it's not a big deal...

Saint chapter 2, reviewed by Mack

I love your turn of phrase:

That was why Bellamy had been breathing down my neck like a dragon trying to cough up a hairball.

The thought of a dragon trying to cough up a hair ball brings up a disturbing picture to my mind.

This chapter was darker than the first and I liked it. You write in the old style of the 20’s and 30’s. Saint is a freaking nut when it comes to the Russians...

Site problems 30/8-08

Due to an stolen laptop from one of "Ornell data"s employees there has been an major security breach. This breach has led to some deleted system files from the LoS site. This security breach has not lead to exposing any of your passwords, email adresses and similar becouse this data has been encryptet. The site is back online again now. If this has lead to mutch inconvinience I am deeply sorry.

Settling in 30/7-08

Right, we are getting settled. After a few minor bugs and so forth I feel the site is now beginning to slowly work as it should. The library is up and functioning and all members are transferred and active as far as I know. So, with that said enjoy and keep up business as usual. Write and have fun!

Sincerely

Zaul
